So you want to be on Broadway? Broadway Musical Theatre Program presents an intensive
summer workshop, this class is your first step to becoming a triple threat performer:
unparalleled actors, singers, and dancers! Musical theatre classes bring the exciting world of
Broadway to life. You will focus on scenes, songs, and choreography from musicals old and
new. Topics learned will include: bringing characterization to a song and choreography,
defining a character, vocal techniques, and mastering the various musical theatre techniques
and styles. In the beginning levels, technique and style will be introduced in the three areas. In
the more advanced levels, various styles, advanced technique, and vocal performance will be
the focus.
At the end of each week the students will present a showcase with pieces from Broadway
shows that they learned during the week.
The last and greatest songs from Broadway are used in this class to teach singing technique.
Participants use songs from Broadway's most famous musicals to learn the basics of solfege,
proper vocal technique in regards to breath support and vowel formation, and sight reading
skills. Basic vocal techniques will include positive breathing habits, posture, diction, phrasing
and interpretation of song literature. Build confidence in your singing and yourself.
This program is based on the interplay between the various elements of musical theatre in
which the students learn and enhance the techniques of ballet, jazz, tap and choreography to
learn the various styles and choreographies of Broadway’s most famous musicals. Turns,
extensions, jumps, and vocal performance will be the focus in the class. Both ensemble and
solo performance work will be fostered and encouraged. Learn audition techniques and a
variety of repertoire. (Tap and ballet shoes required, character shoes for Advance)
Lights! Camera! Action! Do those three words thrill you? Acting workshops often provide you
with similar skills as drama class but they're taught by professionals who know what it's like to
try and break into the acting game. You'll learn great auditioning tips, improvisation skills, how
to work on your stage presence, and techniques to get more comfortable in front of the
camera or an audience. Even if you've starred in your school's drama productions, it always
helps to flex your acting muscle with new peeps in fun, new situations.
